The problem
Two weeks on Kauaʻi in 2009, a thousand photographs, and no good way to tell the story to the people who'd want it. A shared album is a pile; an itinerary is a narrative.
What I built
A private, password-gated site that reads the trip as chapters and activities, with a local admin tool for choosing photographs, laying them out in rows, and writing the copy in place, laid out exactly as the reader sees it. Photos are rendered to WebP at build time and shipped with the deploy, so there is no third-party media service.
What I'd do differently
This essay is a draft. The site itself is private; the link appears here only for people who arrived by invitation.
